I remember this old movie I watched a while back – What Women Want -where Mel Gibson, by a freak accident, gains the ability to read women’s minds. (If only it were possible, guys…If only.)
At first, this “gift” provides Nick with way too much information, but he begins to realize that he can use it to good effect, especially when it comes to outwitting his new boss who is a woman.
Now, what if you had that same super power?
What if you had all the answers to ‘What Do Women Want?’ all stored up in your brain?
I bet you can think of a 100 things you would do with that ability, right now. Hehe…
But how about finding what your readers want? I mean, unless you are a writer who only wants publicity from the lizards on the wall behind you as you write, you need readers to love what you put out.
So, back to it. Do you want to know what they want? So you can give it to them?
Oh. And yours won’t have to be a freak accident. All you need to do is read this awesomely awesome article from Copyblogger below that helps you understand what women…sorry, your readers want. 😊
This is the second article from the blog I’m reposting (the first is here) because they just are so GOOOOD. (gushing)
Here’s an excerpt of the article:
“I’m reminded of this David Ogilvy quote from Ogilvy on Advertising:
“When I write an advertisement, I don’t want you to tell me that you find it ‘creative.’ I want you to find it so interesting that you buy the product. When Aeschines spoke, they said, ‘How well he speaks.’ But when Demosthenes spoke, they said, ‘Let us march against Philip.’”
In other words, if you’re looking for something more than “Great post!” comments, then you’ve got to prompt action. And that means you’ve got to stir something in the audience before they’ll do something…”
